The BYSOL foundation has launched its annual fundraiser for children of political prisoners. It is timed to coincide with International Children’s Day and the start of the summer holidays.
The initial fundraising target is set at €10,000, though it may change depending on the number of applications received. Each child under the age of 16 is expected to receive €100.
Applications for assistance will be accepted from May 5 to May 31 and can be submitted by parents both in Belarus and abroad:
- families of political prisoners with children, where one or both parents have been imprisoned for at least three months (including those serving “chemistry” sentences with or without assignment);
- former political prisoners with children who were released after January 1, 2024;
- parents serving “home chemistry” sentences who have a disability, are пенсионers, or are raising children under the age of three.
“Typically, this money is used to buy summer clothing, pay for extracurricular activities, provide psychological support, and organize recreation. Last year, we managed to raise funds for 252 children,” the foundation said.
