BelGee sales in Russia doubled in the first quarter, according to data from the Autostat agency. The Belarusian car brand ranks fifth in the Russian market.
In March, 5,184 BelGee vehicles were sold in Russia, 2.1 times more than a year earlier. First-quarter sales rose 2.05-fold to 12,824 vehicles. The Belarusian brand’s market share was 4.97% in March and 4.84% over the first three months of the year. A year earlier, those figures stood at 3.04% and 2.53%, respectively.
The BelGee X50 entered the top 10 best-selling cars in Russia in March. Sales totalled 2,780 units, up 97.7% from a year earlier. The crossover ranked ninth in the model sales ranking. First-quarter sales of the BelGee X50 rose 2.2-fold to 7,937 units.
In March, the Russian car market grew by 30.6% to 104,300 vehicles. In the first quarter, new passenger car sales in Russia rose by 7.3% to 264,900 units.
Lada remained the market leader in the first quarter. The Russian brand accounted for 24.1% of the market, or 63,840 vehicles, down 17.4% from the first quarter of last year. It was followed by Haval with 35,640 vehicles, up 14.3% year-on-year, Tenet with 27,860 vehicles, having not been sold last year, and Geely with 15,730 vehicles, down 4.4%.
