A 45-year-old citizen of Belarus was detained at Tirana Airport on smuggling charges, Albania’s border police said on January 6.
The woman’s surname was not disclosed, with police giving only the initials A. W. She was travelling on a Treviso–Tirana flight.
During questioning, the police officer developed doubts about the purpose of her trip to the Republic of Albania, and she was therefore referred for additional, in-depth inspection, the police press release said.
During a personal search and inspection of her luggage, aesthetic products (botox and fillers) were discovered and seized. Their transportation requires special conditions as well as a special licence for storage and use. She did not have such documents.
The Belarusian woman was caught in the act and detained under criminal charges of “Smuggling of Prohibited Goods” and “Smuggling of Licensed Goods.”
