On March 20, the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a briefing on Ukraine for diplomats accredited in Belarus. The event was led by Deputy Foreign Minister Ihar Sakreta.

The stated purpose of the briefing was to convey “Minsk’s vision of the evolving situation” to the diplomatic corps.

According to the ministry, the Belarusian diplomat pointed to a contrast between “information pressure” from Kyiv and Minsk’s actual contribution to de-escalation.

“The Belarusian diplomat drew attention to the contrast between information pressure from Kyiv and Minsk’s real contribution to de-escalation. It was separately emphasised that Belarus provides humanitarian mechanisms: prisoner exchanges, the transfer of bodies of the deceased, repatriation of children, and the reception of refugees,” the ministry said.

Sakreta also stated that Belarus does not engage in nuclear rhetoric and remains open to equal dialogue.

“We do not justify ourselves for things we did not do. We do what we must: protect sovereignty and help people,” he said.

In February, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that NATO should consider the “Oreshnik” system in Belarus a legitimate target. Ukraine has also accused Belarus of deploying relay systems used by Russian drones in attacks on Ukrainian territory.
