A Russian citizen attempted to export 4.5 tonnes of apples from Belarus without documents. The goods were detained by Belarusian customs officers.
The vehicle carrying the fruit was stopped on a highway in the Dobrush district. The driver, a Russian individual entrepreneur, did not have documents for transporting the apples. The value of the cargo is estimated at more than 20,000 rubles, the State Customs Committee reported.
The Homieĺ Customs has initiated administrative proceedings. The carrier faces a fine of up to 50% of the value of the goods.
Since the beginning of the year, Homieĺ customs officers have identified seven cases of illegal transportation of European fruit to Russia. More than 100 tonnes of fruit with a total value exceeding 700,000 rubles have been detained.
