Almost 1,700 Lithuanian freight trucks have left Belarus, where they had been stranded since November 2025. This was announced by Chairman of the Belarusian State Customs Committee Uladzimir Arlouski, BelTA reported.

According to him, just over 200 trucks remain in Belarus at the moment — around 12% of the original number.

“The work is proceeding calmly. According to our forecasts, this issue will be resolved during May. Those who want to leave will have their vehicles depart Belarus,” he said.

Belarus has been holding trucks with Lithuanian registration plates since autumn 2025 in response to Lithuania’s border closure. Belarusian authorities placed the vehicles in special paid parking lots and prevented them from leaving for several months. Belarus allowed the trucks to depart starting March 23 following talks between Alyaksandr Lukashenka and U.S. presidential special envoy John Coale. Carriers are allowed to retrieve the trucks after paying parking fees.

According to the Belarusian side, more than 1,900 vehicles, including tractor units, trailers, and semi-trailers, were being held in parking lots across Belarus.
