On Saturday, two weather balloons carrying cigarettes fell in the Mazowieckie Voivodeship, writes RMF FM.
The first incident occurred before noon on March 28 in a forest in the village of Rudnik near Mińsk Mazowiecki, more than 50 kilometers from Warsaw, away from residential areas. Packages containing 4,000 cigarettes were attached to the balloons. Police confirmed that the objects found were smuggling balloons.
Later that evening, a similar incident took place in the village of Użut in the Pruszków County near Nadarzyn. According to firefighters, the fallen balloon posed no danger.
The discovered objects were seized by police. No one was injured.
The exact origin of the balloons has not yet been established, but according to an RMF FM reporter, all indications suggest they arrived from Belarus.
In recent weeks, military radar systems have repeatedly detected objects entering Polish airspace from the east. In most cases, the balloons landed in Podlasie.
