Trucks operated by Kaliningrad carriers are being detained en masse in Belarus for expert examinations that can take several months, the Russian publication Klops reports, citing Ivan Zaitsev, a representative of one of the transport companies. The report was highlighted by Pozirk.
According to the publication, after crossing the Lithuanian-Belarusian border, drivers of some vehicles are told that the truck must remain for an expert examination. According to the carrier, the examination concerns the authenticity of documents. The documents for one of the trucks were issued by the traffic police in Kaliningrad in February.
According to the carrier, the problem has been observed at several border crossings. About 300 trucks with Kaliningrad registration have been sent for examination. The checks take from one week to three or four months or even longer.
Carriers have to find other trucks to pick up the trailers with their cargo and avoid disrupting deliveries. Shippers complain of losses caused by the equipment sitting idle.
