A new cycling path in Minsk will open in September as part of the landscaping of the Slepian water system canal. The route will be 12 km long.

As Minsk-Novosti reports, the cycling path has four construction stages.

According to State Enterprise Hordorstroy Director Siarhei Paniou, three of the four stages will be completed in August, while work on one section will continue in September.

“However, in the first month of autumn, we intend to fully, as they say, launch the route. Our task is to ensure comfortable movement for pedestrians and cyclists. To this end, we are arranging sidewalks and traffic lanes (the surface has already been laid on most of the route).

We are also focusing on related infrastructure: recreation areas with benches and trash bins, as well as sports and children’s playgrounds. Outdoor lighting and bicycle maintenance areas, where cyclists can inflate their tires, are also planned. At the final stage, we will mark the cycling path”, he said.
