The Centre of the Belarusian Community and Culture is also located in the same building at 20 Vilniaus Street.

A new lease agreement for the building will be concluded for 10 years, the head of the institution Ludvika Kardzis told Radio Svaboda. According to the draft agreement received by the Belarusian Museum named after I. Luckievic from the city municipality, the annual rent will increase from 121 euros to 1,669 euros.

“Over five years of lease, the building has turned into a real centre of the Belarusian community and culture in Lithuania,” Ludvika Kardzis said.

In addition to the museum, the only public Belarusian library in Lithuania operates there, along with a weekly Belarusian children’s school and language courses. Cultural events and meetings are held regularly. In the ближайших plans are a celebration of Belarusian poetry and Mother Tongue Day.
