Head of the United Transitional Cabinet Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, together with Deputy Head Pavel Latushka, representatives of civil society, and members of the Belarusian diaspora, visited the “Mroja” farmstead near the Belarusian border in Poland. More than 50 people gathered there to celebrate Kupalle.

“Celebrating Kupalle at a farmstead with such a symbolic name as ‘Mroja’ is like returning to childhood, where every holiday was filled with real magic. What Siarhei and Natallia have created here and continue to build is truly inspiring. They have transformed an abandoned place into a genuine island of Belarusianness.

As we wove wreaths together, picked blueberries, sang our songs, and danced in circles, I once again felt that Belarus lives within each of us. We may be physically deprived of our home, but no one can take our home from our hearts. Thank you to everyone who was with us that day, and especially to the hosts of ‘Mroja’ for creating a Belarusian place in Poland where we can be together,” the democratic opposition leader said.

The farmstead near the Belarusian border was purchased by former political prisoner Siarhei Hun and Natallia Tsiuliupava, who were forced to leave Belarus for Poland. They are now developing the site into an eco-village called “Mroja.”

Siarhei Hun was born in Homiel, graduated from a music college, was actively involved in sports, and later studied at the University of Culture, where he also took part in KVN comedy competitions. He founded the Vypusknik.by project and the Krona event agency. After 2020, he radically changed his life by moving to a village, where he began raising chickens.

Hun was detained in 2022 for participating in the protests and spent two and a half years in prison. He was released in June 2024 and left Belarus. According to him, he had conceived the idea of creating an eco-village before his detention and worked out the project in detail while in prison.

In March 2026, the couple found an abandoned farmstead 8 kilometers from the Belarusian border and signed a preliminary agreement to purchase the property while awaiting approval from Poland’s Ministry of Interior and Administration. The century-old house on the site is currently in a state of disrepair. Hun, who has experience restoring similar houses in Belarus, plans to renovate it and establish the eco-village.
