A man in the Kastsyukovichy district accidentally shot and injured his son with an unregistered firearm, the Investigative Committee press service reported. The incident occurred on the morning of May 24 in the village of Belynkovichi.
The 61-year-old resident and his son were helping a farmer slaughter a pig. The man used a smoothbore shotgun that he had inherited and failed to register. During the shooting, he accidentally wounded his 15-year-old son. The teenager was hospitalized with an abdominal injury and is receiving emergency medical care.
An investigative task force is working at the scene. The unregistered shotgun has been seized, and forensic medical and ballistic examinations have been ordered. The circumstances of the incident are being established by the Kastsyukovichy District Department of the Investigative Committee. A decision on whether to open a criminal case will be made following the inquiry.
