Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin adopted a Declaration on the Establishment of a Multipolar World and a New Type of International Relations. In total, 20 documents were signed following the talks.
Putin and Xi Jinping also signed a Joint Statement on further strengthening the comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation, as well as deepening relations of good-neighbourliness, friendship and cooperation.
“The parties should follow the trend of the modern era toward peace, development, cooperation and shared benefits, pursue higher-quality development of China-Russia relations… strengthen high-quality political engagement and serve as each other’s strategic pillar”, Xi Jinping said.
He also noted that the parties should support one another.
“It is important… to continue firmly supporting issues affecting each other’s core interests and concerns, and to maintain close strategic dialogue and contact”, Xi Jinping said.
According to him, Russia and China intend to counter hegemony.
“China and Russia, as members of the UN Security Council, will resolutely demonstrate a sense of responsibility as major global powers, safeguard the authority of the United Nations and international justice, oppose all forms of unilateralism and hegemony, and resist attempts to reverse history, above all provocative actions aimed at denying the outcomes of World War II and reviving signs of fascism and militarism”, he said.
For his part, Putin said Russia would remain a reliable partner for China in the energy sector.
“Russia and China are actively cooperating in the energy sector. Our country is one of the largest exporters to China of oil, natural gas, including liquefied natural gas, and coal. We are, of course, ready to continue reliably ensuring uninterrupted supplies of all these types of fuel”, he said.
“This also concerns strengthening cooperation in the field of critical elements and metals needed for the broader adoption of green technologies”, he added.
The Russian president stated that the parties remain committed to an independent foreign policy.
“Most importantly, Russia and China are committed to an independent and sovereign foreign policy, act in close strategic coordination and play an important stabilising role on the global stage”, he added.
According to Putin, settlements in mutual trade between Russia and China are conducted in yuan and Russian roubles.
