Belarusian GDP Growth Accelerates To 2.1% In July

Belarus’ gross domestic product totaled 180.5 billion rubles in January-July. In comparable prices, it grew by 2.1% compared with the same period last year. GDP growth stood at 1.5% in the first half of the year, while a decline was recorded in January-March. The acceleration in growth can be linked to an improvement in the industrial sector, as well as a shift in the timing of the harvest campaign.

The GDP deflator index stood at 113.2% in January-April.

It should be noted that this year, according to the official socio-economic development forecast approved by Lukashenka, GDP is expected to grow by 2.8% for the year. International financial institutions forecast growth of around 1.3%.

GDP labor productivity rose by 1.1% in January-June to 35,783.9 rubles.

Agricultural production across all categories of farms totaled 5.25 billion rubles in July, increasing by 36% compared with July last year. In agricultural organizations, it also grew by 36.5% to 4.91 billion rubles. Over the first seven months, production across all categories of farms increased by 12.9% to 18.83 billion rubles, while production in agricultural organizations rose by 13% to 18.23 billion rubles.

In July, agricultural organizations produced 157,700 tonnes of livestock and poultry, 5.9% more than a year earlier, while milk production increased by 2.6% to 810,900 tonnes. Over the first seven months, livestock and poultry production rose by 5.4% to 1.08 million tonnes, while milk production increased by 2.9% to 5.43 million tonnes.

Industrial production totaled 19.34 billion rubles in July. In comparable prices, it grew by 4.9% compared with the same month of 2025. Over the first seven months, industrial production increased by 0.1% to 126.65 billion rubles.

Industrial inventories stood at 11.41 billion rubles as of Aug. 1. Compared with July 1, they decreased by 360 million rubles. Inventory levels amounted to 79.1% of the average monthly production volume, down 3.4 percentage points over the month.

Fixed capital investment totaled 5.275 billion rubles in July. It increased by 2.8% year-on-year. Over the first seven months, investment rose by 4% to 31.79 billion rubles.

In July, 174,700 square meters of total residential floor space were commissioned, 30.8% less than a year earlier. This included a 67.5% decline in housing construction with state support, to 16,300 square meters. Over January-July, housing commissioned fell by 13.9% to 1.8 million square meters, including a 37% decline in housing with state support, to 253,600 square meters.

Freight turnover increased by 1.9% in January-July to 42.1 billion tonne-kilometers, while passenger transportation rose by 0.2% to 959.7 million people.

Retail turnover totaled 10.57 billion rubles in July. It grew by 11% compared with the same month of 2025. Over the first seven months, retail turnover increased by 8.1% to 64.76 billion rubles.

Wholesale turnover rose by 1.8% in July to 15.62 billion rubles. Over the first seven months, it declined by 0.1% to 105.1 billion rubles.

Turnover in the catering sector increased by 5.6% in July to 742.2 million rubles. Over the first seven months, it rose by 1.7% to 4.52 billion rubles.
