The ban on mobile phone use will remain in Belarusian schools. It will not be adjusted in connection with the start of the rollout of the “Electronic School” system. Iryna Karzhova, head of the General Secondary Education Department and deputy head of the Main Department for General Secondary and Preschool Education at the Ministry of Education, said this at a press conference at the National Press Center.
“Students, as before, will have to place their phones in specially designated compartments when they enter educational institutions. A procedure is in place for using mobile phones during lessons if a teacher deems it necessary. The system for organizing the educational process has been worked out. We are receiving positive feedback from parents. The students have already become accustomed to it. I repeat, no changes to the procedure for using mobile phones are planned from Sept. 1 in connection with the introduction of the ‘Electronic School’ system”, she said.
Starting Sept. 1, 300 educational institutions will be connected to the “Electronic School” system, with full implementation planned for 2027.
As part of the “Electronic School” system, an electronic gradebook and diary will be introduced, along with the ability to create chats and other features.
