Papa Bo Selektah To Hold A Museum Rave At Closing Of Exhibition At Museum Of Free Belarus Dedicated To Belarusian 2020

Culture

At the finissage of the “2020: Minsk Speaks” exhibition, currently taking place at the Museum of Free Belarus, Papa Bo Selektah will replace his usual dance set with audio artifacts, sound relics, strange exhibits and rare specimens arranged on virtual museum shelves, penetrating the body, memory and soul.

In 2020, his sets were played at neighborhood rallies and large protest marches. Six years later, this story is returning to the museum — but not to gather dust.

The exhibition “2020: Minsk Speaks” is based on the archive of Doctor of Historical Sciences Aliaksandr Hrushа, who documented urban protest art in 2020. Photographs of murals, graffiti, stickers, inscriptions and other forms of street expression show how Minsk was transformed into a space for civic expression. The electronic archive was later transferred to the collection of the Museum of Free Belarus.

The museum rave will take place on Aug. 23 at 6 p.m. at ul. Foksal 11-1, Warsaw.
