The Belarusian Republican Water Rescue Society (OSVOD) plans to introduce software using artificial intelligence at the Tsnyanka rescue station in Minsk. This was announced by the organisation’s chairman, Andrei Charniauski. The work is being carried out jointly with the Hi-Tech Park.
“For now, we are trying to install software at the Tsnyanka rescue station in order to later develop a programme. We plan to create a system so that as soon as a swimmer signals distress, the information will be transmitted to the rescue station. We will spend three months building up practical experience together with the Hi-Tech Park”, BelTA quotes him as saying.
According to Charniauski, between 8,000 and 10,000 people gather at the beaches supervised by the Tsnyanka station. It is difficult to keep track of everyone in the water. Rescuers hope that AI will help identify dangerous situations and allow for faster responses.
