Nigerian Citizen Drowns at Tsnyanka Reservoir in Minsk

A Nigerian citizen has drowned at the Tsnyanka Reservoir in Minsk, the Belarusian Society for Water Rescue reported. According to the Emergencies Ministry, the incident occurred at 11:03 p.m. on June 26 near 112 Kaltsova Street.

According to witnesses, a group of four people was relaxing on the shore. The man, born in 2001, entered the water on his own, dived in and failed to resurface for approximately five minutes. His friends searched for him for about three minutes before calling emergency services.

Emergency Ministry personnel found and recovered him about 10 metres from the shore at a depth of around two metres. Resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful, and medical personnel pronounced him dead.
