Aliaksandr Lukashenka on Tuesday appointed three new presidential aides and inspectors for the regions. Among the appointments, the return of Nadzeya Katkavets to a senior official position drew particular attention.
According to Lukashenka’s press service, she was appointed presidential aide and inspector for the Mahiliou region.
Nadzeya Katkavets became widely known for her remarks about “chaotic prices” during the 2011 currency crisis. She previously served as deputy agriculture and food minister and also worked at the Eurasian Economic Commission. Between 2013 and 2017, she was deputy head of the Presidential Property Management Directorate. She later held a management position at BNBK.
In June this year, Nadzeya Katkavets accompanied Aliaksandr Lukashenka during his visit to the BelInterGen-Agro enterprise in the Uzda district. During the visit, Lukashenka addressed her personally. In the official report on the visit, Katkavets was identified as a candidate of economic sciences, without any indication of her position or place of work.
Also on Tuesday, Lukashenka appointed Yury Valevaty, previously first deputy chairman of the Hrodna Regional Executive Committee, as presidential aide and inspector for the Homiel region.
Dzmitry Reutski was appointed presidential aide and inspector for Minsk.
