A 23-year-old resident of Minsk became a victim of online fraud while trying to earn money by investing in cryptocurrency. The woman contacted the Sovetsky District Police Department after she was unable to withdraw the funds she had invested.

According to the victim, she saw an advertisement on one of the social media platforms promising quick income from cryptocurrency transactions. After following the link, the Minsk resident left her phone number, after which she was contacted by a person who introduced himself as an analyst from an investment platform. He offered assistance with investments and transaction support.

The woman registered on a specialized website and, over the course of two months, transferred money to an electronic wallet and carried out transactions under the guidance of a so-called curator. When she attempted to withdraw the allegedly earned funds, the “analyst” began demanding that she deposit an additional sum. Suspecting fraud, the Minsk resident contacted the police.

The total damage amounted to about 50,000 rubles. A review is being conducted in connection with the incident, the Minsk City Police Department reported.
