Minsk police have identified a man who punched a well-known local woman famous for loudly singing religious songs in public places.
The incident occurred on the metro. The pensioner was singing inside a train carriage when one of the passengers struck her in the face.
A video of the injured woman quickly spread across social media. She later said she would not report the assault to the police because she had forgiven the attacker.
Police nevertheless launched an investigation after the video circulated online. Officers identified witnesses to the incident and later located the man who punched the pensioner. He told investigators that he was annoyed by the woman’s loud singing. Following the investigation, the man’s actions will be given a legal assessment, the Minsk City Police Department reported.
