A resident of Mahiliou has been detained for attempting to bribe traffic police officers. According to the Belarusian Interior Ministry press service, the incident began with a pursuit.

Traffic police officers attempted to stop a VAZ car. However, the driver ignored the signal and tried to flee. He was eventually stopped. The man turned out to be a 34-year-old resident of Mahiliou.

During the investigation, it emerged that he did not have a driving licence and had already been caught driving without one for the third time.

“In an attempt to avoid being held liable, he offered money to the inspectors. He ignored repeated warnings about criminal liability and left 1,000 Belarusian roubles in the interior of the service vehicle,” the Interior Ministry press service said.

The man was detained. He faces criminal liability both for driving without a licence and for attempting to offer a bribe.
