A phone call took place on the evening of February 8 between Alyaksandr Lukashenka and Vladimir Putin. The press services of both sides said the international agenda was among the topics discussed.
“The progress of preparations for the upcoming meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Union State of Russia and Belarus, scheduled for late February, was discussed. A number of pressing issues on the international agenda were also addressed,” the Russian president’s press service said.
Lukashenka’s press service also noted the upcoming meeting of the Supreme State Council, which is scheduled for February 25.
“The presidents discussed the timing and dates of its holding, the agenda and other issues related to the preparation of the upcoming event, at which key aspects of integration cooperation between Belarus and Russia will be considered,” the statement said.
A “number of pressing issues in Belarusian-Russian relations, with an emphasis on the implementation of joint projects,” were also discussed.
“The heads of state also touched upon international issues and the development of the situation in the region,” Lukashenka’s press service said.
