The Vilnius Regional Court was due to begin hearing the appeal today of Antanas Kandrotas, also known by the nickname Celofanas, and Andrei Lobov. They had previously been convicted of incitement to hatred and disturbing public order. However, the hearing did not take place, according to LRT.

Kandrotas’s lawyer, Erikas Rugienius, submitted a request to the court to postpone the hearing. He justified the request by citing his own illness as well as the fact that Kandrotas, who is currently in Belarus, is receiving treatment in an intensive care unit. According to the lawyer, he suffered a heart attack.

The court granted the request and postponed the hearing until July 7.

Antanas Kandrotas left for Belarus in early May. He has already given an interview to Belarusian television. It should be noted that in Lithuania he had been subject to travel restrictions.

Under the court’s ruling, Kandrotas was sentenced to one year in prison, while Andrei Lobov received a six-month prison sentence with a suspended execution period of one and a half years. They are appealing the decision.
