Latvia’s border fence was damaged more than 200 times over the past year, Interior Minister Rihards Kozlovskis said on television.
As reported by Delfi, the minister said that construction of the fence on the eastern border has largely been completed. Work is under way to equip patrol paths, and the implementation of engineering and technical solutions is continuing.
There were more than 200 incidents of damage to the fence last year, which, according to Kozlovskis, often occur with the support of Belarusian officials.
He also noted that migration pressure has eased during the winter, but it is still not possible to speak of a stable decline.
