Health Minister Aleksandr Khodzhaev awarded 14 emergency medical service workers for “courage and dedication” demonstrated during Cyclone Francis-Ulli.
“Welcoming the participants, Aleksandr Khodzhaev said that after learning the stories of EMS crews who had to fight for people’s lives at the height of Cyclone Ulli, he wanted to meet them personally and present the well-deserved awards,” the Health Ministry press service reported.
According to the ministry, emergency medical specialists carry out more than 8,000 calls daily across the country. Their work does not stop even in adverse weather conditions. About 2,000 EMS workers and approximately 870 ambulance drivers go on duty every day.
