The Homiel Regional Court sentenced Stanislau Pryhodzich in absentia to five years in a general-regime penal colony and a fine of 4,500 Belarusian roubles. The verdict was handed down on 12 May, the human rights centre Viasna reports.
Pryhodzich was found guilty under articles covering incitement of hatred, participation in an “extremist formation”, insulting Lukashenka, insulting a government representative and discrediting Belarus.
Special proceedings against Stanislau were initiated in February.
