The Belarusian government has approved the lists of national and regional science and technology programs for 2026–2030. The corresponding resolution was signed by Prime Minister Alyaksandr Turchyn.

The programs were formed in line with the priority areas of scientific, technological and innovation activity for the upcoming five-year period. The documents were prepared following Alyaksandr Lukashenka’s instruction to make national science more practice-oriented.

In total, 20 national and six regional science and technology programs have been approved. To ensure effective commercialization of R&D results, most projects were created with the participation of sectoral regulators: 17 of the 20 national programs will be implemented under sectoral commissioning.

Each program specifies funding volumes — including allocations from national and local budgets — as well as designated state customers and lead implementing organisations.

According to the government press service, the implementation of the approved programs is expected to:

• raise the technological level and competitiveness of domestic products, including in machinery, robotics, medicine and biotechnology
• increase innovation activity across sectors and regions
• ensure the development and deployment of advanced domestic technologies in the real economy, the defence-technology sphere and beyond
• create new high-tech and science-intensive production facilities
