The former director of OJSC Hrodna Meat Processing Plant has been charged with accepting bribes on an especially large scale. Prosecutors allege that he received 1.8 million roubles in cash and cryptocurrency.
According to the case materials, between 1 July 2019 and 28 May 2025, the defendant received cryptocurrency and cash worth a total of 1.8 million roubles from the heads of five business entities as bribes. The director’s daughter, who was unaware of the bribery scheme, was also used in the operation. The money was transferred to her bank accounts and cryptocurrency wallets.
“In all cases, the bribes were received in exchange for arranging the procurement by the meat processing plant of complex food additives and other components from specific companies, as well as for ensuring their continued use in production, including by determining the types and volumes of products manufactured using those additives and components,” the Prosecutor General’s Office reports.
The defendant entered into a pretrial cooperation agreement with the prosecutor and fully complied with its terms by assisting the investigation, repaying the criminal proceeds in full and providing information about other unlawful acts.
The criminal case has been referred to court. The defendant remains in custody.
It should be recalled that in October last year it became known that a new director general had been appointed at OJSC Hrodna Meat Processing Plant. A few days later, the Council of the Republic adopted a resolution on the early termination of the mandate of Council of the Republic member Aleh Ivanou, the company’s former head.
His mandate was terminated in accordance with Paragraph 9, Part 1, Article 8 of the law “On the Status of a Member of the House of Representatives and a Member of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus”. This provision states that a mandate may be terminated early “upon the written request of a member of the House of Representatives or the Council of the Republic to resign for personal reasons.”
