Ukraine hopes to see Belarus become part of the Lublin Triangle and is working with the Belarusian democratic forces toward that goal. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha made the statement on the sixth anniversary of the creation of the cooperation format between Ukraine, Lithuania and Poland.
“We hope that one day a free, independent and democratic Belarus will join the Lublin Triangle. To this end, we continue to work closely with Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya and all Belarusians who aspire to live in a European Belarus,” he said.
The Lublin Triangle was established in July 2020. It brings together Ukraine, Lithuania and Poland. At the time, then Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba even invited Belarusian Foreign Minister Uladzimir Makei to attend the inaugural meeting of the new format as an honorary guest.
“Over the past six years, the Lublin Triangle has proven its effectiveness in cooperation at every level, from our ministries to our heads of state.
We are ready to further develop this trilateral format in every respect to strengthen the security, prosperity and freedom of our countries — including through joint economic and infrastructure projects, expanded connectivity and the active participation of Polish and Lithuanian companies in the reconstruction of Ukraine,” Sybiha said, reflecting on the six years since the format was established.
