Belarus has been and remains a loyal partner of Venezuela, the Belarusian Foreign Ministry said.
Today, Deputy Foreign Minister Yauheni Shastakou visited the Venezuelan Embassy in Minsk and left an entry in the book of condolences “in connection with the numerous victims resulting from the attack carried out against Venezuela on January 3, 2026.”
On behalf of the Foreign Ministry and personally, Shastakou expressed condolences to the relatives and loved ones of those killed and wished a speedy recovery to those injured.
The deputy foreign minister stressed that Belarus “has been and remains a loyal partner of Venezuela,” and noted that all disputes must be resolved within the framework of international law and exclusively by peaceful means.
It should be recalled that Nicolas Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores were detained and taken to the United States on January 3. They appeared before the federal court of the Southern District of New York on January 5. Maduro pleaded not guilty and requested a consular visit. Flores also pleaded not guilty and described herself as the First Lady of Venezuela. The next hearing in their case is scheduled for March 17.
