Criminal Case Opened Against Priest Alyaksandr Kukhta

A criminal case has been opened in Belarus against priest Alyaksandr Kukhta. He reported this on his Telegram channel.

According to Kukhta, the case concerns Article 361-4 of the Criminal Code of Belarus, which covers “recruitment or other involvement of third parties in extremist activities.” The article carries a penalty of two to six years of imprisonment.

Priest Alyaksandr Kukhta of the Belarusian Orthodox Church was forced to leave Belarus due to persecution and relocated to Lithuania, where he came under the jurisdiction of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople. Earlier it became known that Kukhta has been conducting personal fundraising via BYSOL.
