The Belarusian State Puppet Theatre has been left without a director.

Since 2024, the theatre had been headed by Tatsyana Toustsik, who replaced Dzmitry Syamyonau in the post. However, her information has disappeared from the “management and artistic staff” section on the official website, where only Deputy Director Vyachaslau Leanenka is now listed. A journalist from Onlíner выяснил that Tatsyana Toustsik left the company of her own accord, deciding to return to teaching at the Belarusian State Academy of Arts, where she had been a senior lecturer at the directing department.

It is worth recalling that the puppet theatre’s performances are in high demand. Productions for adults are especially popular, although not all of them pass censorship.

For example, in the autumn a production based on the fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm, directed by Yauhen Karniag, was rejected by the relevant commission, which considered it too “dark.”
