Belarus’ Interior Ministry said it had dismantled a phishing network. According to the police, it was created by a 21-year-old resident of the Brest region. The group also included 24 other people.
“Its members searched online marketplaces for advertisements offering goods for sale and contacted the sellers. Claiming they could not collect the purchase in person, they asked the sellers to arrange delivery and sent them phishing links. As soon as unsuspecting victims followed the links and entered their banking details, the hackers gained full access to their bank accounts and immediately withdrew their savings,” the Interior Ministry said, describing how the network operated.
At present, authorities have identified seven victims, while operational measures are continuing. A criminal case has been opened on charges of fraud committed by an organised group.
The Interior Ministry also released footage showing part of the testimony of one of the detainees.
“In 2026, I had no money. I created my own phishing team in Belarus. There were 24 people in the chat. It included me and Oder. I found Oder through service chats, and there was a payouts channel. There were around 22 or 23 successful payouts, of which 10 to 15 involved victims. I admit my guilt, I deeply regret what I did, and I am prepared to compensate for the damage,” he says on camera.
