A Belarusian man left the country and was considered missing for several years, while his children received survivor’s pension payments. After returning, the man was ordered to repay the full amount of the benefits — nearly 77,000 Belarusian rubles, the Vitsyebsk Region Prosecutor’s Office reported.
The father of three had for an extended period avoided paying child support. A criminal case was opened against him, but the man left Belarus during the investigation. In 2019, a court declared him missing, as there was no information about his whereabouts.
The Labour, Employment and Social Protection Department of the Orsha District Executive Committee began paying survivor’s pensions to the man’s children. Over six years, the total amount reached nearly 77,000 Belarusian rubles.
Several years later, the man returned to Belarus. The court decision declaring him missing was revoked. A prosecutor then applied to the court to recover the amount of pension payments made to the children. The court granted the claim in full.
