Belarus’ Interior Ministry reported the results of the international anti-drug operation Kanal-Yantarny Bereg, which took place from June 29 to July 3 across the member states of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO). The results were presented in Kaliningrad, where the Belarusian Interior Ministry delegation was led by Deputy Interior Minister Hennadz Kazakevich.
According to the ministry, about 39,000 personnel from law enforcement agencies, border and customs services, state security agencies, and financial intelligence units of CSTO member states took part in the operation, along with observers from China, Iran, and Malaysia. The stated objectives were to disrupt drug trafficking routes, dismantle clandestine drug laboratories, and eliminate the financial infrastructure of the illegal drug trade.
More than 3.5 tonnes of illicit substances, 24 firearms, and about 700 rounds of ammunition were seized. Authorities dismantled seven clandestine laboratories and detained 417 people, including 131 who were wanted by law enforcement. The ministry also reported detecting more than 2,000 suspicious financial transactions worth over 100 million Russian rubles.
