A Belarusian citizen has been held liable in Russia for importing beef heads without documentation.

A vehicle driven by the Belarusian was stopped on January 14 at the Krasnaya Gorka border crossing in Russia’s Smolensk Region. Around 2.5 tonnes of frozen heads were being transported in the cargo compartment.

An inspection found that the driver did not have veterinary documents for the cargo. The Russian side sent a request to Belarus for the return of the by-products, but Belarus’s Department of Veterinary and Food Supervision refused.

On February 16, the cargo was sent for disposal. The driver was brought to administrative responsibility, Rosselkhoznadzor reported.
