Belarusian and Russian athletes will compete at the Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships, to be held in Frankfurt am Main from Aug. 12 to 16, but without their national flags or anthems. German Gymnastics Federation spokesperson Torsten Hartmann told TASS.

According to Hartmann, athletes from Belarus and Russia have been cleared to compete under the regulations of the International Gymnastics Federation (World Gymnastics). During medal ceremonies, however, the federation’s flag will be used instead of national symbols.

“Russian and Belarusian athletes are allowed to compete in the rhythmic gymnastics competitions in Frankfurt am Main in accordance with the regulations of the International Gymnastics Federation (World Gymnastics). They will compete without national symbols — without a flag or anthem. During the medal ceremony, the flag of the International Gymnastics Federation will be displayed. This status for the Russian and Belarusian delegations at the 2026 Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships was agreed by World Gymnastics and the German Gymnastics Federation in cooperation with the German federal government. World Gymnastics has informed both countries accordingly.”, he said.

Neutral music will be played during the medal ceremonies.

The Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships will take place in Frankfurt am Main from Aug. 12 to 16.
