Lithuania’s Public Security Service identified five violators over the past week for flying drones in restricted areas. Three of them were detained near Vilnius Airport.

On March 28 at around 12:20 p.m., a Belarusian citizen born in 1992 was detained in the same area.

On April 1 at around 3:30 p.m., a German citizen born in 1988 was also detained for flying a drone near the airport.

On April 2 at around 4:20 p.m., the Fly Safe drone detection system recorded a drone flight in a restricted zone near the airport. Less than 10 minutes later, officers detained a Lithuanian citizen born in 1998.

All three were held administratively liable under Article 393, Part 4 of Lithuania’s Code of Administrative Offences and fined 200 euros each.

The Service reminded that drone flights are prohibited in airport and airfield traffic zones, over strategically important facilities and in other restricted areas without the relevant permits. Violations may result in a fine and, in some cases, confiscation of the drone.
