A Consulate General of Belarus is planned to be opened in the Russian city of Krasnoyarsk. The corresponding directive was signed on July 3 by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

According to the document, published on the official legal information portal, the new consulate’s consular district will include the Republic of Buryatia, the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), the Republic of Tyva, the Republic of Khakassia, Zabaykalsky Krai, Krasnoyarsk Krai, and Irkutsk Oblast. At the same time, these regions will be removed from the consular district of the Belarusian Embassy in Russia.

The proposal to open the consulate was approved by the Russian Foreign Ministry in coordination with the relevant federal executive authorities, regional authorities, and the presidential plenipotentiary representatives in the Far Eastern and Siberian federal districts. The Foreign Ministry has been instructed to formalize the agreement with Belarus in accordance with the established procedure.

The government of Krasnoyarsk Krai has been advised to provide office and residential premises for the Consulate General on a lease basis or transfer them to Belarusian ownership. If necessary, it should also allocate land plots for construction and resolve other organizational matters related to the establishment of the consulate.
