Several Russian regions came under attack by Ukrainian drones during the night of July 18. According to Russian authorities, the most serious consequences were recorded in the Tambov and Moscow regions.
Tambov Region Governor Yevgeny Pervyshov said that seven employees working the night shift were killed after a strike on a Wildberries logistics centre in Kotovsk. According to the latest information, 25 people were injured. One remains in critical condition, six are seriously injured, and the others sustained injuries of moderate severity.
According to the regional governor, air defence systems intercepted 28 drones on approach. The open fire at the Wildberries warehouse has been extinguished, while firefighting operations continue.
The Wildberries press service confirmed that the company’s logistics centres in Kotovsk and Elektrostal came under attack overnight. It said the fire at the Tambov Region facility had been contained and the open flames extinguished. Firefighters and emergency services continue to work at the warehouse in Elektrostal. According to the company, staff at both facilities were evacuated promptly.
Moscow Region Governor Andrey Vorobyov said the region also came under a drone attack overnight. According to him, the most serious consequences were recorded in the Bogorodsky urban district, where a drone crash sparked a fire at an oil depot in Noginsk.
A maternity hospital located near the site of the incident was evacuated. Patients and staff were transferred to other medical facilities, while women requiring specialised care were taken to hospitals in Noginsk, Balashikha, and Shchyolkovo. Residents of an apartment building on Radchenko Street were also evacuated.
According to preliminary information, 26 people were injured in the Moscow Region. Two were wounded in Noginsk, while another 24, according to the governor, were injured after a drone crashed on the grounds of a Wildberries logistics complex in Elektrostal. Some of the injured remain in serious condition.
He also said that air defence forces shot down 48 drones over the Moscow Region overnight.
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said that more than 370 drones had headed towards the Moscow region since the evening of July 17, with 64 of them intercepted as they approached the capital.
Amid the attacks, temporary restrictions were imposed on arrivals and departures at Zhukovsky Airport. Similar restrictions had earlier been introduced at Domodedovo Airport and at Pulkovo Airport in St. Petersburg.
Leningrad Region Governor Alexander Drozdenko said that eight drones had been shot down over the region. According to him, there were no casualties. Debris from one of the drones fell onto the deck of a vessel anchored in the Gulf of Finland, but no fire broke out. Regional authorities reported no other incidents.
