Aliaksandr Lukashenka traveled to Kyrgyzstan with his younger son Mikalai. Lukashenka will take part in the SCO summit on September 1, and today he and Mikalai attended the opening ceremony of the 6th World Nomad Games in Bishkek.
A humorous moment involving Lukashenka’s arrival and the protocol photo was captured in the live broadcast of the opening ceremony.
Mikalai behaved like the head of Lukashenka’s security detail, giving instructions to the guards.
The president of Kyrgyzstan congratulated Lukashenka on his recent birthday. Lukashenka replied that he celebrates for two days and apparently explained that Mikalai’s birthday was on August 31. Lukashenka then began looking around for his son, while Sadyr Japarov called Mikalai over to congratulate him. Clearly embarrassed, Mikalai approached and remained for the protocol photo.
It is worth noting that the other leaders generally posed for photographs with their wives.
Aliaksandr Lukashenka was also accompanied by Darya Shmanai. In 2022, she was appointed minister-counselor at the Belarusian Embassy in Russia. Before that, she worked in the protocol service.
