Belarusian-Pakistani trade turnover has declined. Aliaksandr Lukashenka pointed this out during a meeting with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Bishkek. He proposed discussing problems in bilateral relations.
“Thank you for finding the time to meet and discuss some of the problematic issues that have arisen in our relations. There are problems and there always will be, but there are no problems that we could not overcome together. Let us act in this direction”, Lukashenka said.
According to him, political relations between the two countries are fine. Lukashenka also emphasized his good personal relationship with Sharif. The same cannot be said about the economy.
“We have suffered a bit in terms of trade turnover, by about 20%. But in August this year, there has nevertheless been some progress in terms of the tasks we set. Our specialists and yours have been given specific assignments. I think next year should be more active for us”, he said.
Lukashenka also expressed hope for a meeting in a broader format during mutual visits.
“I think that in the near future we will find time to meet in Pakistan. Naturally, if he and you have even the slightest opportunity to visit Belarus, we will be waiting for you”, he said.
