Aliaksandr Lukashenka met with Togo’s head of government Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit. The talks included a project to jointly produce mineral fertilizers.
“We supply you not only with food, but also with everything necessary to produce food products in your own country. In particular, our agricultural equipment and machinery are being supplied to your country, contributing to your food security. We are ready to continue working in this area and are ready to establish joint ventures in your country”, Lukashenka said.
It should be recalled that earlier this year, an agreement was reached to supply 4,500 units of Belarusian agricultural machinery to Togo.
He also highlighted another project related to fertilizer production.
“You proposed a project that is interesting for us — the production of phosphorites and the construction of a plant to produce complex fertilizers”, he said.
It should be noted that Aliaksandr Lukashenka had previously proposed a similar “three-way” project to Algeria and Oman.
He urged his Togolese partners to look beyond agricultural machinery.
“Take a closer look at our machinery on a broader scale, especially heavy equipment and mining dump trucks. Our country has a strong machinery manufacturing sector, and we are ready to share our experience with you”, he said.
The talks also covered cooperation in high technology, healthcare and banking, as well as the organisation of a business forum.
