Weather Balloons Carrying Cigarette Smuggling Intercepted In Poland

Officers of Poland’s Border Guard have detected two weather balloons used to illegally transport cigarettes from Belarus into Poland.

The aerostats were carrying tobacco contraband with a total value exceeding 46,000 zlotys. The cargo was discovered in areas of responsibility of Border Guard posts in Mielnik and Nowy Dwor, the Podlaskie unit of the Border Guard said.

The incident occurred in eastern Poland, near the border with Belarus.
