At the Hryharoushchyna checkpoint, Vitsyebsk customs officers detained a DAF tractor unit with a KOGEL semi-trailer that was being imported into Belarus under the guise of vehicles registered in the EAEU. The vehicle combination, driven by a driver for a Kyrgyz transport company, was arriving from Latvia, the Belarusian Customs Committee press service reported.

During customs control, inspectors became suspicious about the authenticity of the VIN numbers. An examination conducted by the Navapolatsk interdistrict department of the State Committee of Forensic Examinations confirmed that the identification markings on both vehicles had been deliberately altered. Customs officers established that, in order to import foreign vehicles without paying customs duties, registration plates and documents from other vehicles already registered in the EAEU had been used.

The tractor unit and semi-trailer, with a combined value of more than 97,000 rubles, were seized. Administrative proceedings have been launched against the carrier. The company faces a fine of up to 500 basic units, with the possible confiscation of the vehicle combination.
