Police in Minsk region practiced suppressing protests during the second day of command-and-staff exercises.
On the orders of Interior Minister Ivan Kubrakou, the exercise scenarios were significantly altered to bring the conditions as close as possible to a real-life situation. Under the exercise scenario, the territory of military unit 3214 in Minsk was transformed into a separate densely populated settlement.
Security forces simulated blocked routes and protests.
“After entering the simulated city, the officers immediately began carrying out their assigned tasks. They encountered pockets of unrest: an aggressive crowd greeted them with a barrage of stones and bottles containing incendiary mixtures. Radicals coordinated via Telegram also blocked the roadway near a factory to paralyze its operations and prevent workers from reporting for their shifts. A public security monitoring group recorded a traffic collapse, a large gathering of people shouting destructive slogans, as well as the arson of a vehicle,” the Interior Ministry reported.
To detain the simulated protesters, the security forces used motorcycles, approaching from the rear.
The exercises also included the release of hostages at a sports complex and assaults on a bus and a high-rise building.
