The Kupalovskoye agricultural holding will cease to exist. This was announced by Anatol Isachanka, chairman of the Mahiliou Regional Executive Committee, following a meeting with Aliaksandr Lukashenka.

“The president has given his conceptual backing to our approach: the farms will continue to exist, operate and develop within their current boundaries. The holding as such will no longer exist. There will be separate, independent farms, each with its own management, staff, territory and bank account. The Kupalovskoye holding is being dissolved, and the farms will be transferred into municipal ownership,” he said, BelTA reports.

The Kupalovskoye agricultural holding was established in June 2017 under Decree No. 232 “On the Establishment of a Business Entity.” It brought together the joint-stock companies Amkodor-Shklou, Vialikiya Slavieni and Novaharodzishchanskaye from the Shklou District. The holding was intended to serve as a platform for testing modern agricultural technologies. It was placed under the Property Management Directorate.

However, the enterprise was subsequently plagued by persistent problems. One of the farms within the holding was the site of the widely publicised incident in which Lukashenka drew attention to a “cow covered in manure”. Following the incident, Agriculture and Food Minister Leanid Zayats and Deputy Prime Minister Mikhail Rusy were dismissed from their posts.

In 2020, the State Control Committee said that measures aimed at developing Kupalovskoye were not effective enough, noting that the enterprise’s performance indicators were deteriorating.

The enterprise repeatedly received state support. Last year, for example, it was allocated 3.5 million Belarusian rubles to purchase machinery and equipment.
