Belarusian Foreign Minister Maksim Ryzhankou met on Monday with the new CSTO secretary general, Taalatbek Masadykov, who took office at the beginning of the year.
Ryzhankou congratulated Taalatbek Masadykov on his appointment and assured him of Belarus’ support.
According to the Foreign Ministry, the sides exchanged views on the international agenda, with a focus on the military and political situation in the CSTO area of responsibility. Ryzhankou stressed the importance of developing CSTO cooperation with other international organisations dealing with regional and global security issues, primarily the United Nations.
He also said efforts by CSTO member states should be intensified to ensure that the organisation corresponds to current geopolitical realities and is able to respond effectively to modern security challenges and threats.
