Russia’s Foreign Ministry held a meeting on Thursday with the ambassadors of the United Kingdom, France and Germany.

Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin presented the Russian side’s assessment, which describes the policies of the three countries regarding “the Ukrainian crisis” as “destructive.” According to Moscow, these policies are “aimed at maximally encouraging the Kyiv regime to continue the war against Russia on behalf of, at the expense of, and with the direct assistance of the Western ‘coalition of the willing.'”

“The Russian side’s fundamental approaches to seeking a political and diplomatic settlement of the conflict based on eliminating its root causes were explained,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

Last weekend, the president of Ukraine met with the leaders of the United Kingdom, France and Germany. Following the meeting, the parties adopted a joint statement outlining conditions for negotiations aimed at resolving the Russia-Ukraine war.

The conditions include an immediate ceasefire along the current front line “as a starting point for dialogue”, as well as security guarantees for Ukraine, including the possibility of deploying multinational peacekeeping forces.

According to media reports, the United Kingdom, France and Germany plan to use the upcoming G7 meeting to persuade U.S. President Donald Trump to support negotiations under the proposed new framework.
